Clinical Research:

Clinical Research:

At North Texas Center for Rheumatology, we are proud to participate in clinical research—carefully designed studies that help advance treatments for arthritis, autoimmune, and inflammatory conditions.

Clinical research allows doctors and scientists to explore new medications, therapies, or treatment approaches to better understand rheumatic diseases and improve care for current and future patients.

Every study follows strict safety standards and is reviewed by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure that participants’ rights and well-being are protected. Patients who join a study are closely monitored by our research team, receive detailed information before enrolling, and can choose to stop participation at any time without affecting their regular medical care.

Participating in clinical research offers patients an opportunity to access promising new treatments before they are widely available, while contributing to discoveries that move rheumatology care forward.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSK US):

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSK US)

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSK US):

Musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK US) is a safe, and radiation-free imaging technique that uses sound waves to create live pictures of your joints, tendons, and soft tissues.

In rheumatology, it plays an important role in helping your doctor detect inflammation and joint fluid that may not be visible during a regular exam. It can also spot early joint changes/damage or tiny bone surface irregularities (erosions)—often before they appear on an X-ray. MSK US helps distinguish between different causes of pain, such as inflammation, tendon injuries, bursitis, or crystal deposits (like gout). Your rheumatologist can also use ultrasound to monitor disease activity and treatment response over time, even when symptoms seem quiet, and to make faster, more confident diagnoses when the cause of joint pain is unclear.
